<br />
I know it has been a while, but I'm actively trying to make an attempt to get back into blogging. I've been spending some time working on a pen pal documentary blog called The Not Quite Dying Art (follow me <a href="http://notquitedyingart.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">here</a>). I wanted to get back into the snail mail community so I've been working hard to get involved with sites that incorporate swapping letters and packages with crafting and other hobbies. =)<br />
<br />
But that's not the only good news! I was asked to table at a gaming convention! I will be selling my goods at the upcoming September convention, <a href="http://www.QueenCityConquest.com/" target="_blank">Queen City Conquest</a>!<br />
<br />
If you've been watching my Etsy mini along the left sidebar, you'll notice my inventory has changed to include some geekery! Dice pendants, bottle cap necklaces, and soon I'll be adding complimentary pin-back buttons to match the bottle cap necklaces.<br />
<br />
However, to add even more excitement, I now have a facebook page, found <a href="https://www.facebook.com/JarOfDreams" target="_blank">here</a>!<br />
<br />
I am also working on new Valentine's Day gifts. I know, I know, it's only August. What the heck am I doing planning this far in advance for a holiday not due until next year?<br />
<br />
I learned how to craft some things and they make for a much less expensive gift made from the same cute materials! So instead of charging something like $12 to $15 for a booklet that just looks pretty, I can lower the price by almost $10 for something small but functional (and still adorable)!Alyssahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17938094359343786222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3543125064155269169.post-19687877306514143012011-12-04T20:16:00.004-05:002011-12-05T15:26:48.881-05:00Updated Etsy Shop! I've been considering going back into the craft show circuit because I had so much fun the last few times I went. Click on the pictures to take you to the listing on Etsy. Here are the latest things I've created.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/75809078/recycled-papers-journal-dont-sweat-the"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://ny-image1.etsy.com/il_fullxfull.250417621.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
This is a journal I just finished making about two hours ago. It's love themed and included tons of unique and fun pages inside. I plan to make more of these to sell.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://ny-image0.etsy.com/il_fullxfull.250566692.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://ny-image0.etsy.com/il_fullxfull.250566692.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Another journal, but some close-ups of the inside pages. This one is rainbow themed! Due to lack of space there are only four of the six colors shown here.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/75692129/vibrant-purple-bead-and-black-flower"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://ny-image0.etsy.com/il_fullxfull.249989892.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
This bracelet is probably the most professional looking I've ever made. It's created from silver and crystal. So pretty!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/75798890/melted-vintage-record-candy-bowl"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://ny-image2.etsy.com/il_fullxfull.250346350.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<a href="http://www.blogger.com/"></a><span id="goog_1287535714"></span><span id="goog_1287535715"></span>Record bowls. These babies sold like crazy at my craft shows. You can put food in them or use them as decorative pieces. The best part of these bowls is that they're made from real records. So cool!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/75798332/beautiful-blue-button-necklace"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://ny-image3.etsy.com/il_fullxfull.250381575.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<a href="http://www.blogger.com/"></a><span id="goog_1287535724"></span><span id="goog_1287535725"></span>Blue button necklace. This beauty is a recycled piece with only a few new parts such as the hemp cord the buttons are strung on and the silver clasps at the back. Other than that, each button was recycled from some place or another.<br />
<br />
That's all for now!Alyssahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17938094359343786222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3543125064155269169.post-53204991381712742202011-06-10T12:33:00.000-04:002011-06-11T18:49:26.853-04:00Showing Some LoveI'm in another one of those moods today and I've decided to post another list of things that make me happy. You might see some overlap with the <a href="http://livingcraft.blogspot.com/2010/07/what-makes-me-happy.html">last list</a> but only because some things just really make me incredibly happy. =) So here goes!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2295/2441224688_cee6d0a34d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2295/2441224688_cee6d0a34d.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>Pretty envelopes!<br />
<a name='more'></a>Pretty envelopes make me happy because they're fun and a blast to make. In my last list post I mentioned a ton of things I'd wanted to post tutorials for, so this summer I'll probably get to working on those and a few more in this list. Envelopes, especially the pochette or petal envelopes are really fun, if not a little difficult to design from scratch.<div><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4070/5075004074_5f5436f337.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4070/5075004074_5f5436f337.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div><br />
</div><div>Fun letters from pen pals! These make me happy because I love hearing from my pen-friends. I collect all the letters I receive from my long-distance friends and I cherish each one. I especially am a fan of the artsy envelopes and letters sent to me. Handmade is so much fun!</div><div><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1358/5156227575_4df76d7006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1358/5156227575_4df76d7006.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div><br />
</div><div>Kawaii stationery! I tried to find a better picture that showed the papers that are kawaii, but the ones I liked weren't accessible. Anyway, give me stickers, papers, envelopes, pencils, pens, and stamps that are kawaii and I will be one happy camper.</div><div><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/134/352224884_accf2b30d4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/134/352224884_accf2b30d4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div><br />
</div><div>Sushi! I especially love eel sushi with a spicy mayo sauce. The local grocery store has fantastic sushi for cheap, and there are two restaurants I frequent that have phenomenal sushi. There's nothing better than some filling sushi with a side of steamed dumplings to make my day better.</div><div><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1412/5113043884_774b00a356.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1412/5113043884_774b00a356.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div><br />
</div><div>Junque journals! Also known as creative journals, art journals, junk journals, or altered journals. These are a blast to make and they allow people to be so creative and expressive. I don't have nearly enough money to buy all the inks and paints and embellishments to make these as good as some people can, but it doesn't mean I like them any less. </div><div>Urban Outfitters! This is one of my favorite stores. Even though I can't fit into probably three quarters of the clothes they have, their home decor section is freakin' incredible! </div><div>Van Helsing's Dracula! I know this movie flopped hardcore, but I'm allowed to go fangirl over Richard Roxburgh's portrayal of Dracula. I mean, really, his character just wanted to have some kids. Was that too much to ask? Well, I suppose yes, 'cause I sure as hell wouldn't wanna be vampire food...</div><div><br />

This quick post is just a few photos of my new room. I haven't come close to finishing the set-up or organizing my closet, so this is just to show you guys what my new place looks like. I will do a room tour next weekend if I can, if not the week following it. It's fairly small and I can't paint it, so I'll have to deal with the yellow walls not matching anything in my room. And I present to you the BEFORE version of my new room, to be followed soon by an AFTER room and closet tour! =)<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
So first off, my bed area. I tucked the headboard part of it into the corner because I don't want the light to wake me up in the mornings. I've slept in too many a room where that happened and no amount of curtains ever helped. The sheets may look familiar to those of you who read my post of purchases for the dorm a while back. I'm combining two bedsets here, so the teal bottom sheet goes with my blue, white, black, and teal peacock bedding and the flowered top sheet goes with my reversible pink and magenta bedding. That blue and white Afghan belonged to my roomie's mother and I decided to keep it for sleepovers since she didn't want it. I might move the bed again to face the other direction so it's still tucked in the corner, just giving me some different room to work with.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiajyad7IHezOoqeZRUlvjr3LSlEsz82JsYmgtjaNcDfeVtQPp_QFM5iMs-vuh8vtkXUp7eQkog7g-Vf5fituz604zk7yaKF7khL5TLrE9gZ0KnDjNVNTRHT7RjmQaxq_HGZkIs_5ASOceR/s1600/DSCF0036.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiajyad7IHezOoqeZRUlvjr3LSlEsz82JsYmgtjaNcDfeVtQPp_QFM5iMs-vuh8vtkXUp7eQkog7g-Vf5fituz604zk7yaKF7khL5TLrE9gZ0KnDjNVNTRHT7RjmQaxq_HGZkIs_5ASOceR/s320/DSCF0036.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Next up it the corner of the room to the left of the bed. As you can see I have a lot of junk that will be organized once I move my old bookcase into the room next weekend. For now it's a mess of stuffed animals, perfume, baskets, clothes, jewelry, and slippers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUjNtYVOvWrdvZNLkkohRo-CSHCM2P7D7tc-wXLNKaIAyrMZ5Z8eftn2wyXCyu8S73cF85OfqwvQjbYw9WpO4fD0ediHrLYv8BbrUMAiJTmZGwr7kohOnAU-igmO1d_1ir44gMORklW-bj/s1600/DSCF0037.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUjNtYVOvWrdvZNLkkohRo-CSHCM2P7D7tc-wXLNKaIAyrMZ5Z8eftn2wyXCyu8S73cF85OfqwvQjbYw9WpO4fD0ediHrLYv8BbrUMAiJTmZGwr7kohOnAU-igmO1d_1ir44gMORklW-bj/s320/DSCF0037.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
This is the entrance on the right and the closet is the door with the faerie poster on it. You can see part of my roomie hiding on the right, in the blue sweater and jeans. She said she didn't want to be in the picture but I thought my camera would cut her out since it takes a picture and then cuts out about six to ten inches of the photo all around the border in the final photograph. Hence why I need a new camera, especially one that doesn't do that because it's aggravating when I have to think about what I'm taking a picture of and what exactly is going to show in the final photo. But that's not important right now. My closet is fairly small and it's not organized right now so I won't even show you the inside. I'll save that for the final tour.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6Wl5S5l-p-V83kJmtmD_PWiGg4ptUmw8PA1wQ10UojadOBOodvlbXJcLMx9JFAksxon5_c2as1LA1lN0cZ18mJl65WvD57jowXASrLL5hTInW2_p82K3Ai7fYqduwJwKIo2a-mtA7JQY9/s1600/DSCF0038.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6Wl5S5l-p-V83kJmtmD_PWiGg4ptUmw8PA1wQ10UojadOBOodvlbXJcLMx9JFAksxon5_c2as1LA1lN0cZ18mJl65WvD57jowXASrLL5hTInW2_p82K3Ai7fYqduwJwKIo2a-mtA7JQY9/s320/DSCF0038.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
And then this is just the corner at the edge of my bed. I got to keep the footstool from my roomie's mother because it's cute and blue. Next to it is my shoe organizer which will be going up next weekend, on top of a box full of my shoes. I'm not sure how I feel about those curtains. They're the color you can see in the photo, but they don't really match anything in my room. I mean, I have black, pinks, blues, and white in my room, but are there too many pinks completing with the blues and black and white? Hm... I may have to make some new curtains.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgasX6ZAyrAdss2eATAfioWLrCSVspX5MvmIt-9q6uJDxHHUIFPKyz0DoLzMG0tlNxmS2jhRTQ_uZBFN3etx02DYWovIt6M9V9uen3h461EU6Ql1wCgCa6PoBJ_RWBk1NQtlVAY83zsQH2W/s1600/DSCF0039.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgasX6ZAyrAdss2eATAfioWLrCSVspX5MvmIt-9q6uJDxHHUIFPKyz0DoLzMG0tlNxmS2jhRTQ_uZBFN3etx02DYWovIt6M9V9uen3h461EU6Ql1wCgCa6PoBJ_RWBk1NQtlVAY83zsQH2W/s320/DSCF0039.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
And that, my friends, just about covers it! So to recap what's going on: Next weekend or sometime during the week following it I will do a room/closet tour. I don't know yet if it will just be photos or if I'll shoot a movie. I hope you are all doing well and that your holidays were exciting and fun! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!Alyssahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17938094359343786222noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3543125064155269169.post-13286458911417862892011-01-01T13:45:00.006-05:002011-01-07T12:11:23.003-05:00Movie: Thick as Thieves<object height="340" width="560"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/YSzgPY1NoGI?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/YSzgPY1NoGI?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object><br />

I just returned from some afternoon shopping with my dad. I initially went out to buy hangers because I needed them and ended up purchasing some clothes as well. The ModCloth purchase was for Christmas and I didn't want to post just one thing. The TJ Maxx purchase is from a few weeks ago but I had to have the dress altered so it fit me before I took pictures of it. It was 8 or so inches too large and I loved the dress too much to pass it up. So since we're on the topic of TJ Maxx, let's start with it. Here is the beautiful dress I bought:<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOGLgMzH9RHaJIuek1O9BVzAuuLO9SD6SeaGSnLkPF4bJTH6Yt137gVCJG-r7SJSr37dOjXS6e9EONgprMoLeSkjw-Czdf7i-_egIQy2GqcVxmpKvU3ebp98sjHfv77qc1AdZzVNN1Hg9z/s1600/DSCF0045.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOGLgMzH9RHaJIuek1O9BVzAuuLO9SD6SeaGSnLkPF4bJTH6Yt137gVCJG-r7SJSr37dOjXS6e9EONgprMoLeSkjw-Czdf7i-_egIQy2GqcVxmpKvU3ebp98sjHfv77qc1AdZzVNN1Hg9z/s320/DSCF0045.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br />
Here is a close-up of the pattern:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIwadxz7L2qtkWqJcRCtCbZ_VaJpCYaphydLtdWca8JNXPG1t3bdJFqjtZv_zt9qGl49a6U8FQBpGgsUIwMG-8ZXCp77LzB70WJD8WkHiEv0GKori4X34s8mUlGGRzX76oZcf0H1GdwFmQ/s1600/DSCF0046.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIwadxz7L2qtkWqJcRCtCbZ_VaJpCYaphydLtdWca8JNXPG1t3bdJFqjtZv_zt9qGl49a6U8FQBpGgsUIwMG-8ZXCp77LzB70WJD8WkHiEv0GKori4X34s8mUlGGRzX76oZcf0H1GdwFmQ/s320/DSCF0046.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><a name='more'></a><br />
It's a bubble dress with a sweetheart neckline and elastic at the top and bottom for a snug fit. It came with a belt but I think the belt is much too large, so I'll replace it with a belt I already own or I'll just cut off some of the belt and make it smaller once I fix my sewing machine. Next up, JC Penney and Target. I bought the tights on the left, solid black, from JC Penney, and the fishnets, black, and leopard print tights, grey and black, in the middle and on the right from Target. Everything in the tights section was 50% off at JC Penney!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwyE949lXDVCB09RhkFlLiZ5HQlzpqW6eYlA0Y4YWDJOClOlcD2HlIzIvHerXbvAmwuQZtJlMgDxrvIJB9_Tqz2ZErNJVPq0gEHAHCJANSUEujIMwQvkM-WUyhTGlzU7jUq9EFK8J5nK8Z/s1600/DSCF0047.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwyE949lXDVCB09RhkFlLiZ5HQlzpqW6eYlA0Y4YWDJOClOlcD2HlIzIvHerXbvAmwuQZtJlMgDxrvIJB9_Tqz2ZErNJVPq0gEHAHCJANSUEujIMwQvkM-WUyhTGlzU7jUq9EFK8J5nK8Z/s320/DSCF0047.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
These are black City Street jeans from JC Penney. They were on sale for half off! =)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2fqySIcSqLqgbI8BkIlMd4O4G5mren9kV46PzePyUvcvQTDpUR5I20gkfDJ8Rz8Al6NptuXJTD_xwbIVPH797xT5a702Gbxxq5Q2ZvLDZDu_ETvP1krSzJbDDVyJHy5P079lVIOrLGGeE/s1600/DSCF0048.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2fqySIcSqLqgbI8BkIlMd4O4G5mren9kV46PzePyUvcvQTDpUR5I20gkfDJ8Rz8Al6NptuXJTD_xwbIVPH797xT5a702Gbxxq5Q2ZvLDZDu_ETvP1krSzJbDDVyJHy5P079lVIOrLGGeE/s320/DSCF0048.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Then I got this spaghetti strap floral print top made by Decree. I love their stuff but I usually can't find anything in my size. I was surprised that this not only fit well, but it's very flattering.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghLjwwTQ8-2pX8KTL2-KlJPlzNEwaPRUHM87f5CUwgzBW0rYPB0ZgbdYcjKoER87A5d6HxGicbJKpzkTL1ml5_q0TIr3bVPnQJjlPN6Rc8-F97NR7csqKWPH4LReC8EechjE1FWagxEjuP/s1600/DSCF0050.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghLjwwTQ8-2pX8KTL2-KlJPlzNEwaPRUHM87f5CUwgzBW0rYPB0ZgbdYcjKoER87A5d6HxGicbJKpzkTL1ml5_q0TIr3bVPnQJjlPN6Rc8-F97NR7csqKWPH4LReC8EechjE1FWagxEjuP/s320/DSCF0050.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br />
And a close-up of the fabric and colors:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLnwlFzDM3oii1Xxt2ukOC_KcDX-NUCckTd_Qq4VEJhwMJ8oORwdHnLVqi8As5jbXcvhzYv1tUSzY9XyybaNfQlCPUSMJi71lV9aU6bEQwQwzna6YT6v-9eDU7jb4TZ2TVJDhfOhA-e4qt/s1600/DSCF0052.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLnwlFzDM3oii1Xxt2ukOC_KcDX-NUCckTd_Qq4VEJhwMJ8oORwdHnLVqi8As5jbXcvhzYv1tUSzY9XyybaNfQlCPUSMJi71lV9aU6bEQwQwzna6YT6v-9eDU7jb4TZ2TVJDhfOhA-e4qt/s320/DSCF0052.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Then I got two V-neck t-shirts, one in black and one in white, and a long-sleeve grey leopard print sheer top.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7rFtGv_2E7473IGSx2ioBaiptiC844O8P0fyMJnY4o24Cf9ES7Q9w_BYQhv_lTXuK7tJ76OzrvS6lT6AH1qMMU58BisKos6LyvdVc_FsSoNslOpHk1SdeYEY-B4FBiS07xcTVnR0Dm4VY/s1600/DSCF0053.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7rFtGv_2E7473IGSx2ioBaiptiC844O8P0fyMJnY4o24Cf9ES7Q9w_BYQhv_lTXuK7tJ76OzrvS6lT6AH1qMMU58BisKos6LyvdVc_FsSoNslOpHk1SdeYEY-B4FBiS07xcTVnR0Dm4VY/s320/DSCF0053.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br />
A close-up of the long-sleeve top, because I adore the details on the sleeve ends:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-A-KimzaBp0si8jmsIueH14D4kDJe3bryTuVQU9Tf3koaYuHRRgo5Tcxx1mqEeuCg9UTPM3VHqHV2B3urOj8B8vEDHw5lKWGkeAkIqOWFQU_kLRqYCmboymF2UAC6v1XgkYNEqgwvOuJB/s1600/DSCF0054.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-A-KimzaBp0si8jmsIueH14D4kDJe3bryTuVQU9Tf3koaYuHRRgo5Tcxx1mqEeuCg9UTPM3VHqHV2B3urOj8B8vEDHw5lKWGkeAkIqOWFQU_kLRqYCmboymF2UAC6v1XgkYNEqgwvOuJB/s320/DSCF0054.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Then I found this cute dress! I've been on a dress kick lately so I have like...twelve dresses now, if not more, and this one goes great with what I found at Target, and the boots I found at ModCloth which you can see at the bottom of this post.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiopyN0LZ18jSMyzLouO1fo474ygAS3e3ux8eMXTLEsQ5itq_Oqujq5Aj3_CSZIuUC6BMOA2M_bxw1Zo97xcXfcIfpHWUwHXE7g9nnvML37a4VV4e33dIOi67ls2ccCPmqN_OBsa59XScPR/s1600/DSCF0058.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiopyN0LZ18jSMyzLouO1fo474ygAS3e3ux8eMXTLEsQ5itq_Oqujq5Aj3_CSZIuUC6BMOA2M_bxw1Zo97xcXfcIfpHWUwHXE7g9nnvML37a4VV4e33dIOi67ls2ccCPmqN_OBsa59XScPR/s320/DSCF0058.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br />
And a close-up of the print (it's floral!) and a more accurate display of the colors:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyvpIGWSqPZwW29nrVNycphH4dTdHvKtbnOytmP1YUnkxzlGJt5v4LffyVuEgNs0BlVzhHCkJMpVqsqofxtQanup4cDonFhCGdk0Em3MXKU1xwHYArjsj6Vdxx3fFJcg_a64T7anD1WQVz/s1600/DSCF0057.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyvpIGWSqPZwW29nrVNycphH4dTdHvKtbnOytmP1YUnkxzlGJt5v4LffyVuEgNs0BlVzhHCkJMpVqsqofxtQanup4cDonFhCGdk0Em3MXKU1xwHYArjsj6Vdxx3fFJcg_a64T7anD1WQVz/s320/DSCF0057.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Here's the boyfriend blazer I found at Target. I LOVE IT! It's going to go so well with my new floral print dress. It's so perfect for my body, too. I originally found this leather jacket at JC Penney but it was something like $70 and that's not my style to buy such expensive stuff. I'm a clearance and $20-or-under girl when it comes to clothes.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhM8pPamxEDRUdLR9FdJMo7iCzyr5nAe0mBF0IPyqwSV7j2ElkHhgEv7LYwBDWIuh5B5gTJHa3ljoozLhFNR-ZVLKtq91oSjLhLx5y5xwwiUDnk4M5WMjIcl_5ZPrjEpnDKKy48w3LWOAIj/s1600/DSCF0059.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhM8pPamxEDRUdLR9FdJMo7iCzyr5nAe0mBF0IPyqwSV7j2ElkHhgEv7LYwBDWIuh5B5gTJHa3ljoozLhFNR-ZVLKtq91oSjLhLx5y5xwwiUDnk4M5WMjIcl_5ZPrjEpnDKKy48w3LWOAIj/s320/DSCF0059.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
And finally, the boots I got from ModCloth! Aren't they just amazing?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxt4z6xnSSuPIGDEf1dYKJPqqrmFS-K9MK34-KLkzqiUBc_EyNRGaHzvqL1mkei7SuduD4Lxe9BxdXUrH94tGJJNKix4oziU0I_-ZyJE0GCRjBU9Bf15Uq42Q2U-ySnEHGDV514V-Tnlm2/s1600/DSCF0045.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxt4z6xnSSuPIGDEf1dYKJPqqrmFS-K9MK34-KLkzqiUBc_EyNRGaHzvqL1mkei7SuduD4Lxe9BxdXUrH94tGJJNKix4oziU0I_-ZyJE0GCRjBU9Bf15Uq42Q2U-ySnEHGDV514V-Tnlm2/s320/DSCF0045.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
So I hope you enjoyed this long haul as much as I enjoyed buying it all. Leave a comment telling me what you liked best, or if you think my pairing of certain items is fashionably appropriate. I might start doing an Outfit of the Day or Outfit of the Week post. We'll see. Have a wonderful day, everyone! And Happy New Year!Alyssahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17938094359343786222noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3543125064155269169.post-72028310901043780442010-12-28T17:29:00.001-05:002010-12-28T17:29:50.596-05:00Warning: My Room is a MESSSo I can't say that I'm an entirely neat and organized person. As much as I try to be, buying organizational items and neatening things up via uniformity, it seems I simply cannot be perfectly neat. Now, what I'm about to show you is my room the messiest it has ever been. I have clothes on hangers, jeans folded in a pile, bookshelves and bagged bedding thrown haphazardly around, hampers of clean pajamas on the ledge of my bed frame, and speaking of beds....mine isn't made. This is all because I've been searching through all my belongings to find the most important items to take with me when I move out next month. I have a good portion packed, but that left behind the mess that is as follows:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiokUNROF3L2Pba7XVcebFD38By7-iWtNw_TRm4dinHb-4eECTN5QbME-NuXgTm9ufobdMfMcSRMPp1A9vlOv0My7phQbu6Tu9URfqXdFuA-Oy-DF-2PDqrgBOJD3BzUfn9ihxTF6QJSQsu/s1600/DSCF0044.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiokUNROF3L2Pba7XVcebFD38By7-iWtNw_TRm4dinHb-4eECTN5QbME-NuXgTm9ufobdMfMcSRMPp1A9vlOv0My7phQbu6Tu9URfqXdFuA-Oy-DF-2PDqrgBOJD3BzUfn9ihxTF6QJSQsu/s320/DSCF0044.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />

Yikes! I know, I know, that is one mess that needs to get cleaned up ASAP. Which I'm working on after I finish this update. For my new home I'll be using the following, a hanging closet organizer for my jeans and putting my clothes on hangers and keeping them in the closet.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsjdjCyGCr_FP_tzrj0EWVLShGD5gd8TNWjxEh9MhXrx6pHwCl_-j8lwwIFQJgisTi8rzmckQlu1LHZIF9GXr1pgUldOyiwe2OAW1uLl4Nqfm7hDgWIB4gJeoa0O6-kNiVgBc9eK5MOVmS/s1600/DSCF0046.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsjdjCyGCr_FP_tzrj0EWVLShGD5gd8TNWjxEh9MhXrx6pHwCl_-j8lwwIFQJgisTi8rzmckQlu1LHZIF9GXr1pgUldOyiwe2OAW1uLl4Nqfm7hDgWIB4gJeoa0O6-kNiVgBc9eK5MOVmS/s320/DSCF0046.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Then I'll be building the following 9-cubby cubeical (in black) and filling it with books, my jewelry, and four black fabric drawers that will likely store my socks and the like since I won't be bringing a dresser with me. Though I do have some cute green and pink polka dotted bins....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0TX3M5JIi3zJTH6hyphenhyphenWs7Db7-vswDVGxc9rYJNnZlMAxMv6qkcfnvRiCgnUxQuMXaAiW37Sg6VpwdoMlKw8j0lGOeZCEBIofVyEwwap71Odty-q5w4MI_LngEvTa-4ZmKyNnEsXao6woCN/s1600/DSCF0048.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0TX3M5JIi3zJTH6hyphenhyphenWs7Db7-vswDVGxc9rYJNnZlMAxMv6qkcfnvRiCgnUxQuMXaAiW37Sg6VpwdoMlKw8j0lGOeZCEBIofVyEwwap71Odty-q5w4MI_LngEvTa-4ZmKyNnEsXao6woCN/s320/DSCF0048.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Here are the boxes I have packed so far. You have no idea how hard it is not to just grab everything I own and pack it up. Of course, having a 5 box limit on items is a nice reality check. Then I'll just pack my clothes, hangers, and toiletries in a big bin and be good to go! The boxes contain some stuffed animals, fragiles like picture frames, glass candles, glass jars, and my favorite porcelain doll, my geekery such as my Mario Boo doll and manga, my books and a fashion magazine (I plan to own more in the future), and some silver metal mesh wire bins for storage.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE6ofsI1pgGprmIy1n1VL11aEYI2npPyzp0NmYpovRDaFvEfu1rV-Gan2cQ84utxypOHCQu8g-UDKKuyAV-yyoSYxCFWEGTzTGvPfWZ8HpH70Q5F4OVlVOplf8VPrgcDoZexXTNqHukKJ5/s1600/DSCF0050.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE6ofsI1pgGprmIy1n1VL11aEYI2npPyzp0NmYpovRDaFvEfu1rV-Gan2cQ84utxypOHCQu8g-UDKKuyAV-yyoSYxCFWEGTzTGvPfWZ8HpH70Q5F4OVlVOplf8VPrgcDoZexXTNqHukKJ5/s320/DSCF0050.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />
And then because I am so excited to have finished it, a Hello Kitty/Zebra print reversible hobo bag! I bought the pattern and fabric with some of the gift cards I got for Christmas for JoAnn's Etc. Did you guys know they're being bought by a new owner? I just found out via Wall Street Journal. How depressing! It likely means the prices will go up and I'll have to go to the Hobby Lobby out in the middle of nowhere. Or start buying fabric at WalMart. Eek...Let's hope they have Hello Kitty and Super Mario fabric....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8MPWLiGE5MlYiBTbBfQJlmurcqpMsSYHenCVc4npsD5LFhPabQd4FYrqLtHjBKZFR6bZo6s12jthzKgpT315HSjcJnmLJ99EjCV9tagFlvHFhVAnGq82VhDjSTRm9jandvUoGFfTLPmwF/s1600/Photo+on+2011-12-26+at+19.19.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8MPWLiGE5MlYiBTbBfQJlmurcqpMsSYHenCVc4npsD5LFhPabQd4FYrqLtHjBKZFR6bZo6s12jthzKgpT315HSjcJnmLJ99EjCV9tagFlvHFhVAnGq82VhDjSTRm9jandvUoGFfTLPmwF/s320/Photo+on+2011-12-26+at+19.19.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />

<br />
I've been obsessed the last few days with watching these "# Things in My Room" videos on YouTube, and decided to make one of my own (Geek edition, of course). So watch it and let me know what you think. I was thinking I might make more videos if I got enough responses and likes from you guys. So today I decided I would talk about things I think are essential to have in your purse. Let's face it, we all have a ton of crap in our purses we don't need (mine happens to be full of pointless Hello Kitty stuff I really like). So here is a short list of some things I believe everyone should carry in their purse.<br />
<br />
<ol><li>Wallet. All the important stuff is inside: IDs, debit/credit cards, cash, checks, gift cards, business cards, and frequent buyer cards. </li>
<li>Cell phone. In case of an emergency, your wallet may not always be enough. Props to Verizon for having the best coverage.</li>
<li>Nail file. This may not seem essential to some of you but if you're like me, your nails are long and they sometimes break when they get used too much. See "works at a computer all the time".</li>
<li>A book. Because you never know when you'll need to <s>chuck it at somebody</s> pass the time. Alternatively, if you aren't the reading type but you are the listening type, an iPod or Zune with audio books. Or...just plain music.</li>
<li>Keys. To your car, your house, to <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5im0Ssyyus">Candy Mountain</a>. Don't want to get locked out of there...</li>
<li>A pen and scrap piece of paper. For car accidents, evil scheming, or giving your number to cute guys or girls.</li>
</ol><div>And that covers it. Not too shabby, eh? For some people this may not cover it, but planners and other items aren't always essential to everyone. Oh, and don't forget a bi-fold compact mirror for when you need to go into super secret spy mode and peek around corners. </div>Alyssahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17938094359343786222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3543125064155269169.post-33537874054065481452010-11-14T16:15:00.001-05:002010-11-14T16:16:36.797-05:00Burlington Coat Factory HaulOkay, so here is the late update of the Burlington Coat Factory purchases I made the other day. Let us begin with the shoes I bought. They are black suede and are wedges, which I adore. I'll have to buy some suede waterproofing spray so I can wear them this winter. They're simply adorable and were only $22.99!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgsZiL0mNYGCdwPHaCZCfzqFcJOoDJiQKRBH30Ix4Zv3Dyk0r3v1G-D5a86y0wa4CkBQikqiGxbDkLQuZCWCkpibcERhs7c9nCR0EBIqGRsvPeUyrN40OPHfAnUGsIs3jBc9YCaQmtd2kM/s1600/DSCF0003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgsZiL0mNYGCdwPHaCZCfzqFcJOoDJiQKRBH30Ix4Zv3Dyk0r3v1G-D5a86y0wa4CkBQikqiGxbDkLQuZCWCkpibcERhs7c9nCR0EBIqGRsvPeUyrN40OPHfAnUGsIs3jBc9YCaQmtd2kM/s400/DSCF0003.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Next is the great grey coat I bought for $39.99. It zips up the side rather than the center and has a cute button on the inside. It also has a hood, which I love, and I'll be wearing it until it starts to snow here.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmc35Say0yVqJrqPyqvpA8qg0AaY4XWS696B4KFLUIktCS2JjPByr0BfGS3tvVJdOyK63TZzUHEIOjbEY_6E_28NVXUZw_dVnMDsFV2sveA3PCptbBmxNZRSyBQD05Rz9b-RzzJekBGtX_/s1600/DSCF0012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmc35Say0yVqJrqPyqvpA8qg0AaY4XWS696B4KFLUIktCS2JjPByr0BfGS3tvVJdOyK63TZzUHEIOjbEY_6E_28NVXUZw_dVnMDsFV2sveA3PCptbBmxNZRSyBQD05Rz9b-RzzJekBGtX_/s400/DSCF0012.JPG" width="300" /></a></div><br />
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Then comes the shirt I wore on a date the other night, for $12.99. It has dark purple and black stripes with gold studs along the collar, and an off-the-shoulder sleeve with a strap to go on the shoulder. It's so comfortable! The sides cinch up to shorten it into a shirt or lengthen it into a dress. As I'm a mostly modest person, I'll only wear it as a shirt because I don't like ridiculously short dresses, skirts, or shorts.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgreldNZH0jLECGtR_LWd3YH6THmpKauoy64zUbzjKbwJwuwFxAEsxxu2wPXTD_vVxZPHY25N1LqtObTYn_Qm7RR8n6R0E-EkcmVL_G3rz_6U6h7G5RqN13NZP1BL9wbONV2Ehg68q1rBTF/s1600/DSCF0017.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgreldNZH0jLECGtR_LWd3YH6THmpKauoy64zUbzjKbwJwuwFxAEsxxu2wPXTD_vVxZPHY25N1LqtObTYn_Qm7RR8n6R0E-EkcmVL_G3rz_6U6h7G5RqN13NZP1BL9wbONV2Ehg68q1rBTF/s400/DSCF0017.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Finally comes the purse! Which I am IN LOVE with! I found it on sale for $39.99 from something like $98.99. What a steal!! It has a black giraffe print in faux leather and velvet exterior, and a purple zebra print interior. It has some cute hearts in metal and plastic dangling as a keychain off one of the hardware rings, and has an abundance of pockets. It fits everything but my laptop, which is perfect for the days where I don't want to lug my laptop around, but also don't want to carry a huge purse.<br />
<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCGMicDWnEgJgcMzT5xo3CgKY7SZUtUOlYiN1SD1xzKwhpCXt2KT8qVgVOCmuAhZLTJsKYOwgCLllD_rLZiZ7beaBqgQJs4w5Zb3XgMCQre7RTqZI5crAFJOu-7bNj6u5isJfL39zH6h-G/s1600/DSCF0013.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCGMicDWnEgJgcMzT5xo3CgKY7SZUtUOlYiN1SD1xzKwhpCXt2KT8qVgVOCmuAhZLTJsKYOwgCLllD_rLZiZ7beaBqgQJs4w5Zb3XgMCQre7RTqZI5crAFJOu-7bNj6u5isJfL39zH6h-G/s400/DSCF0013.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibmt7zXhN3e2JQgObUxsspebTJpTIUMWo0rXdfnkIBI_XqC9F4NBgl9ARhxwtlvyZqv5hK0P4YgT5Qlzh7YvYXHPjO_c5cePXJ7CpNLOCUQljnyjt4DlWIcWNNvRiXsRv2BuON47qNgWOV/s1600/DSCF0014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibmt7zXhN3e2JQgObUxsspebTJpTIUMWo0rXdfnkIBI_XqC9F4NBgl9ARhxwtlvyZqv5hK0P4YgT5Qlzh7YvYXHPjO_c5cePXJ7CpNLOCUQljnyjt4DlWIcWNNvRiXsRv2BuON47qNgWOV/s400/DSCF0014.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFrCvL9pXBCogjSZVLfRNYiA5cLwjWqzPq0z5nNL6KI4Y3IzQNVzgyoR5s_34LyFj3wJJYemXcN1UxrKUkPxioegfvWBvWjTbO28bFuutrlLLD7dnhE2cPw0O3KtsESLryCBcieS7gX8GV/s1600/DSCF0009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFrCvL9pXBCogjSZVLfRNYiA5cLwjWqzPq0z5nNL6KI4Y3IzQNVzgyoR5s_34LyFj3wJJYemXcN1UxrKUkPxioegfvWBvWjTbO28bFuutrlLLD7dnhE2cPw0O3KtsESLryCBcieS7gX8GV/s400/DSCF0009.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxxPPOee_afsU2gXtAejXYPBwYBDpgwqJQZxoxojePqQjwkOP7fc4qKetnYRQ6zzDkswTCzcvFZ2euuY7YJsefAATMccff1euWrs47lXGVEd29mZ1ZnC5afZZtyBWxt53RoT88NlSpAvQH/s1600/DSCF0007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxxPPOee_afsU2gXtAejXYPBwYBDpgwqJQZxoxojePqQjwkOP7fc4qKetnYRQ6zzDkswTCzcvFZ2euuY7YJsefAATMccff1euWrs47lXGVEd29mZ1ZnC5afZZtyBWxt53RoT88NlSpAvQH/s400/DSCF0007.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />

I keep seeing these room tours on YouTube and I feel like I should at the very least do a dorm tour, and then maybe later do a tour of my room at home. I also have a Burlington haul for you guys, which I'll post as soon as I find my camera. It isn't a particularly large haul, but man did I find some good stuff! I was thinking I might possibly start doing an outfit of the day post, once a week, or do a weekly post of a compilation of my favorite outfits of the week, and maybe include my least favorite outfit and ask for your input as to how I can change it for the better.<br />
<br />
In other news, NaNoWriMo is going well, and this weekend I'm supposed to go to the mall with my friend so there could even be another haul post for you guys. For my birthday, I did receive the Love Kills Slowly perfume by Ed Hardy that I wanted. It smells heavenly! I've also been on a Hello Kitty kick lately so I might have to do a Hello Kitty wish list post, as well. Also, a friend of mine has been asking me to move in with her for a while now, so I might be moving out next semester sometime. I'll then have another room tour for you guys, but unfortunately I won't be able to paint the walls or anything, so I'll simply have to do my best to make it as much like home as possible. I go to look at the house--yes, HOUSE =)-- the Sunday following Thanksgiving. Expect plenty of updates before then.<br />
<br />
I hope everyone is doing well! Talk to you all soon! =)Alyssahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17938094359343786222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3543125064155269169.post-29265179164284189492010-10-18T12:37:00.003-04:002010-10-18T13:11:02.969-04:00I Have Returned!Hey everyone! I just wanted to say I'm sorry for taking such a long time to update. I know my <a href="http://livingcraft.blogspot.com/2010/10/movie-final-word.html">previous update</a> wasn't in the best of spirits but that's how I've been these past few weeks, not in the best of spirits. School has been busy and I had some personal problems to deal with, and in a few weeks I'm going to embark on a journey only the truly gifted can reach the end of. This journey is called NaNoWriMo, which stands for National Novel Writing Month. It takes place during the month of November and the goal is to write a 50,000 word novel in <b>only</b> the month of November.<div><br /></div><div>Yes, I know, I'm crazy, but if I can pull this off, I will achieve one of my personal goals, which is to finish a novel that I've begun. I have tons of stories lying around my computer and my father's computer, awaiting completion. This November I will write a brand new 50,000 words to a story idea I'm also using for my screenwriting class this semester and next semester in school. This will ensure a thorough tale, which I've entitled Lucidity. </div><div><br /></div><div>My story is a dark fantasy about an artist who gets sucked into a war in the Greek Land of Dreams and must confront her tragic past in the face of a supernatural force threatening world destruction.</div><div><br /></div><div>I created another blog which I plan to update daily and dedicate solely to NaNoWriMo, which can be found <a href="http://ataleoflucidity.blogspot.com/">here.</a> Any support you guys can give me would be much appreciated. Last year I didn't get any support and only reached 26,000 words. I'm hoping this year things will change. =)</div><div><br /></div><div>One way you can help me is to send me letters, postcards, photos, post-its, or any other type of message you can think of (messages in bottles would be well-appreciated, too). Describe a dream you've had in a letter or send a photograph of your favorite hangout or a place you think is really cool. These letters and photographs will inspire me create one of the main cities in my story, set in the Greek Land of Dreams.</div><div><br /></div><div>Please send them to:</div><div>Alyssa Ricigliano</div><div>460 Franklin St.</div><div>Buffalo, NY 14202</div><div><br /></div><div>I know the dangers of posting my home address so just to let you know, this is an office address, not my home address. I pick up my mail and packages from this address so no worries about the dangers of posting my information on the internet. I don't live nearby this building, but I have my mail delivered there and then saved for a once-a-week pick-up. If you'd like to become pen pals, I'd give you my home and/or dorm address, but that's a request for a separate post. =)</div><div><br /></div><div>One final thing before I leave you is in regards to my craft show two weekends ago, October 9th. I sold five items, an equivalent to $13, followed by an additional 2 sales the following week for a total of $9. I didn't break even with the cost of the show, but I'm going to try again at this weekend's show. Wish me luck! Take care, everyone!</div>Alyssahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17938094359343786222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3543125064155269169.post-12010646934411082382010-10-11T14:16:00.005-04:002010-10-11T14:21:44.518-04:00Movie: The Final Word<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/gfeDrT8bxyY?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/gfeDrT8bxyY?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" color: rgb(51, 51, 51); line-height: 20px; font-family:Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif;font-size:14px;"><p><strong><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); "><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-size:medium;">Title</span></span></strong><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); "><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-size:medium;">: The Final Word</span></span></p><p><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-size:medium;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); "></span></span><strong><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); "><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-size:medium;">Genre</span></span></strong><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); "><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-size:medium;">: Drama/ Tragedy</span></span></p><p><strong><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); "><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-size:medium;">Year Produced</span></span></strong><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); "><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-size:medium;">: 2010<br /></span></span></p><p><strong><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); "><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-size:medium;">Level of Education</span></span></strong><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); "><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-size:medium;">: College, Sophomore Year</span></span></p><p><strong><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); "><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-size:medium;">Summary</span></span></strong><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); "><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-size:medium;">: A young woman left at the altar has one final conversation with her ex before leaving a video for her mother concerning her imminent suicide.</span></span></p><p><strong><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); "><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-size:medium;">Additional Notes</span></span></strong><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); "><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-size:medium;">: This is a sad video, just a warning to you all. I would like you very much for my birthday. You cost $75 at Ulta when you're in a 3.4 ounce bottle and come with a free Ed Hardy tote bag and a free blue damask print weekender bag. Would you like to be my present? I'd very much like for you to be my present. Pretty please with cherries on top?Alyssahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17938094359343786222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3543125064155269169.post-19154595577936660672010-08-16T12:26:00.010-04:002010-08-25T11:12:03.555-04:00What's In My Bag?<div>Hi all! I hope you're doing well. So I've been meaning to do a "What's In Your Bag?" post for a while now, but never get around to doing it. My camera battery is seconds from death and I can't find the charger for the life of me. So here are some poor pictures of what is, in fact, inside my purse. Enjoy!</div><div><br /></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyV4tB9k1rwUn799FdSgxStj8VXFjaL1HbWIC3W8hjNNUMVFHGf9eWeYiPRAaGDmnLcyGoBMIzkwl5kQ7lJX6b86iL83kvE9tRznTaLP_JywBsIpVR23sSnSxcwSi_s-BYXnoKmeszxzbG/s200/DSCF0613.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5506058209884857506" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px; " /></span><a name='more'></a><br />The purse! I found time today and went with my father to WalMart, Dollar Tree, JoAnn's, and Target, and I decided to share my purchases with you guys who may have yet to go buy supplies for classes and dorms. Please keep in mind that I have yet to see what my dorm will look like so I kept my purchases to a minimum, getting only what I felt were the essentials. So, let's get started!</div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ9HBmB3OOipPDsz5KhXpPjCuCB4Vn9xDuMMTolLKtHB1XKwfqAmZ9XTDwJ3gfsMjwiA-qqX8J6KXN7u46yyIXOntqwAUOuMjYkJjyXtX0a5q0KEDCPL3qA1x8Y0348RjFazzwnQmgn6sU/s1600/DSCF0542.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ9HBmB3OOipPDsz5KhXpPjCuCB4Vn9xDuMMTolLKtHB1XKwfqAmZ9XTDwJ3gfsMjwiA-qqX8J6KXN7u46yyIXOntqwAUOuMjYkJjyXtX0a5q0KEDCPL3qA1x8Y0348RjFazzwnQmgn6sU/s200/DSCF0542.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5505770626950472930" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px; " /></a></div><div><a name='more'></a></div><div>I found a bunch of basic items --black and blue pens, mechanical pencils, subject insert dividers, dry-erase markers, paper clips, thumb tacks, butterfly clips, and highlighters-- which were mostly a dollar each.</div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVqDvrG0KV9RsbX0FGCsWT5DwUrqlCZegOwI-cU-fFq2yU14gvDDSmmRoCndZ0EZLvAED4EzU4PIioija9HJGNiFAAENT5jYiRffrHzS71DD8RgvRBGawpRtfqfgbyo_CriZflEI-535U9/s200/DSCF0544.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5505774102963331202" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px; " /></span></div><div>Next, I bought a small sewing kit, pack of pretty purple Post-Its, and some mounting tabs for posters and whatnot to put on the walls. </div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHyO29XyzeTCiY8epGhsTcuAJ9ZcZZ7hCuT1FtC2eHRMD-N4dWZgzQ05hLU_PVg6wRzB-jqPvbFSg-6b-rcV7Wk6ClciJuk5hKD0QPLfee12Cw1z0G5RicUfxviBDCNZ_Aa1EEW8UjGr5t/s200/DSCF0547.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5505774220521462626" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px; " /></span></div><div>I got this wonderful magnetic dry-erase board calendar with a corkboard bottom from JoAnn's. Like I mentioned before, I had polka dotted bedding that matched the drawer inserts, but I found the above sheets and knew I needed a different comforter to match. I made out quite well, finding not only a bunch of display items, but a ton of new crafting supplies! I found plastic canvas, a bag of new embroidery hoops, and a bag of multi-colored yarn skeins. Those will be put away into their respective homes. I discovered this amazing fabric, too! I'll hopefully have enough to use it as a tablecloth before I find something else to do with it.</p> <p class="MsoNormal"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifdTI3I5ofPrJ29WRhtx8aWzrGi3_3JRVBW5Ms2I61c4l6LTPGn3-qHIOOGm-PP_Ly9vyw7poWXDClt8-GznA-59kZUtCWYIR8xZY2RHOv8M_VD2xLmKwOv7pFT6S8lDJUpYUqEVMwipqG/s200/DSCF0551.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5504625651659062114" style="cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px; " /></p><p class="MsoNormal"><a name='more'></a></p><p class="MsoNormal">Now, as for the items I’ve found for display purposes… I discovered this AWESOME chili pepper shaped bowl with individual carved sections which will be perfect for my smaller, differently priced, mixed creations. Don't these look cute?</p><p class="MsoNormal"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVsIYhZFoTNUXqcKX0TyP4A5z5oWcEDqrQA6ESaYv09HpFYsjQaaOsa7qDghOLzWwK99zFEZ809WUBMx1IbR1aL91Qufl3-FdSkk87G0X4MUKMpsTBZwKea6fwIQeno4SsKdc-EvDXsE5W/s200/DSCF0550.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5504624325316562226" /></p> <p class="MsoNormal">The next item I found was this shifting lattice stand, which I’ll use to hang (hopefully) necklaces. I’ll have to find a way to get it to stand straight, but if that doesn’t work, it will be an interesting decorative piece I could use to get some height in my display. Or to hang scarves from.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiW7_2NKbd_GFTgaXR4lxmdv7rkWynwqwaS_7at3Jj3S2yARM0VnPRTzrk2DUpHikMCDFA_k-pTJH1yXSkVDg-iFiqrMbYVf-aC-dL-9TpcMD03VOJKnsLz56n1gBCE_Fo6x5OZC-h_n6ye/s200/DSCF0543.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5504624695980969266" style="cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px; " /></p> <p class="MsoNormal">After that comes these two picture frames, in which I’ll put a sign that says, “Welcome to Jar of Dreams!” and, “Sales tax is included in ALL prices.” I’ll design something quick in GIMP and print some pretty color copies at work. I also found a cheap clipboard which I'll use to create a mailing list.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhI7Ehx4AOxSTaIQZuwE1BkpDcAfCZoutx-KllG6E0Wg__kP5m4zwdb2QGCGf4axUeeQc40sXCVdAIXKO3AQ1AXGC8wAGswNbRBhUW2XBEvy96tKE6vSu8qFAaJjxrWMRvK-PEljhd6uOy4/s200/DSCF0544.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5504625119520429810" /></p> <p class="MsoNormal">Lastly I purchased some records to turn into record bowls. I didn’t take photographs before I made them into bowls, so here are the final products.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpyiFN_OL3XLb-NvHS_wxNh8tBIFkREVKFdvXU4GlcnIJUdYg68dvvE_DYqKng84zimPQ5aE15s6MYKnAWPI2q1uyKeu3pIO5vWFwYCIl0lhhcCPtUF3_fgZyPKnipV6203xT2pmtKLNr6/s200/DSCF0541.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5504625308218891058" /></p> <p class="MsoNormal">Neat, huh? I’ll be selling most of mine for about three bucks and using the ones I don’t sell as displays for my goodies.</p> <p class="MsoNormal">WHAT YOU WILL NEED:</p> <p class="MsoNormal">A record</p> <p class="MsoNormal">An oven-safe bowl (glass or metal)</p> <p class="MsoNormal">A baking sheet</p><p class="MsoNormal"><a name='more'></a></p> <p class="MsoNormal">DIRECTIONS:</p> <p class="MsoNormal">Hit up the thrift store for some cheap records.<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 639px; height: 478px;" src="http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g81/backlash_symphony/Decorated%20images/P1010133.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></p> <p class="MsoNormal">Preheat your oven to 250 degrees. </p><p class="MsoNormal"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUpQA-sqbaq4o_yappbeEVRMjCIsxVlg-uJ2-oAdI_S9Y4XQbKzORsi2t2mRiPXnDe1uOVDX3fFEqhY4cKCM0s-d9n_o5OeuntxO_yzgW6_beSDx8dYWU6HViVBct6r-eSSq0P7EstISw1/s1600/DSCF0546.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUpQA-sqbaq4o_yappbeEVRMjCIsxVlg-uJ2-oAdI_S9Y4XQbKzORsi2t2mRiPXnDe1uOVDX3fFEqhY4cKCM0s-d9n_o5OeuntxO_yzgW6_beSDx8dYWU6HViVBct6r-eSSq0P7EstISw1/s200/DSCF0546.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5504635575012260498" style="cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px; " /></a></p><p class="MsoNormal"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUpQA-sqbaq4o_yappbeEVRMjCIsxVlg-uJ2-oAdI_S9Y4XQbKzORsi2t2mRiPXnDe1uOVDX3fFEqhY4cKCM0s-d9n_o5OeuntxO_yzgW6_beSDx8dYWU6HViVBct6r-eSSq0P7EstISw1/s1600/DSCF0546.JPG"></a>Take your oven-safe bowl and place it on your baking sheet. Elastic string, elastic bands, elastic straps, you name it. So I bought a roll of elastic string and some elastic band and dug through all my beads and buttons and crimps until I discovered the perfect, simple craft that is easy to make an inexpensive. Thus, this tutorial was born!<br /><p class="MsoNormal">WHAT YOU WILL NEED:</p> <p class="MsoNormal">Elastic String</p> <p class="MsoNormal">Colorful Beads or buttons</p> <p class="MsoNormal">Scissors</p> <p class="MsoNormal">2 Crimps with Loop on One End</p> <p class="MsoNormal">Needle-nose pliers or some other kind of pliers</p> <p class="MsoNormal">(Optional) Jump Ring</p><p class="MsoNormal"><a name='more'></a></p><p class="MsoNormal">DIRECTIONS:</p> <p class="MsoNormal">Take one end of your elastic and secure it into a crimp using the needle-nose pliers. I heard back from both craft show managers and I've been accepted into both shows! The first and more expensive of the two has an easier payment system. They gave me paperwork to fill out and asked for a check order, which I can definitely pay. </span></span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;">The second, however, expects me to use PayPal, which I have to use for Etsy but apparently never activated the account for. Plus, I don't have a credit card and my bank account is too depleted to pay the fee and also have enough to keep the account open, so I'll have to stop at the bank and deposit some money, or pay my dad cash and just put his credit card on file instead.</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;">Am I the only person on the planet who likes having cash more than having a card? I find myself spending so much more with a card. With cash, I know I have exactly what I have, and that's it, so I spend it more wisely.</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;">But anyways, I'll be able to pay for the first show, no problem. I'll send in their money order sometime this week or the beginning of next week. I believe their show is also October 9th, which is the closer of the two shows. The second show is October 23rd, and assuming I can figure this PayPal stuff out, I'll have two shows to attend! =) </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;">I'm SO excited!!! And now I have to ask you guys again, same questions from the previous post. </span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 20px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;">Does anyone have any display arrangement ideas?
